WHAT 2 DO WHEN TALK TURNS MALICIOUS. .

This is from my Monday night singles Bible study at NDCBF which you can follow the singles group on twitter @NDCBFSingles! Pastor Cooper talked about the power of the tongue which I think is fitting being that I am jump starting this blog. (Shake your head yes) I am just going to give you some key points, if you would like to learn more you can email me at tatianaredwards@hotmail.com or tatianaredwards@gmail.com . . If you need a more rapid response instant message me.

From curses, death, and a crushed spirit, to flattery, slander, and lies, the tongue wreaks havoc from the beginning of the Book of Proverbs until the end.

And as we know these things are happening in the world today as well at times in our lives. Take comfort that this isn’t something new that’s happening to you. They talked about Jesus; even put him to death (not knowing that He has power even over death). Even his own disciple denied knowing him, think about this when a friend disappoints you.

What we say makes a lasting impact. It can produce great good, but it can also hurt other deeply.

You cannot trust a person who flatters you with compliments that go beyond the truth. It is merely a smoke screen of defeat.

Never attack a person’s reputation behind his/her back. Such slander reveals an attitude of hatred and jealousy in the speaker, and it spread discords among the hearers.

Thoughtless words lead to quarrels (fights), and quarrels once started are difficult to contain.

God is a God of absolute truth, and he despises lying. We dare not allow ourselves to become accustomed to falsehood.

Applications: (This part is very important!!)

Analyze your words, and gain insight on the condition of your heart.
Read other people’s reactions to your speech. Do you win them and draw them? Do you put them off?
Ponder the times when people have said encouraging things to you. Compare that with the time people have hurt you with words. Seeing the difference, commit to being lavish with helpful and encouraging words.

I think you would agree this is a wonderful start to the discussions of this blog. I would like to invite you to the Bible Study, its in Richardson, TX at North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship Church at 7pm. Challenge yourself, increase you faith.
